About

I work with sculpture and sculpture installation, primarily using ceramics as material. By creating a universe of abstract, anthropomorphic creatures, I construct narratives. I also explore the boundaries between art, craft and design.

The sculpting process is organic and can be traced in the physical results. I work intuitively using low-tech techniques, investigate different clays, surface manipulation techniques, slips, glazes and firing techniques. Often I combine the ceramic with other types of materials, such as wood, thread or leather. The dimensions of the sculptures range from the size of a hand up to life size.

My artistic practice circles around existential questions. The focus rests on psychological conditions, inner conflicts and growth. I'm especially interested in contradictions in human life, the desire for both freedom and security, individuality and fellowship, construction and destruction.
